CENTRAL GOLDFIELDS REVERSE TRI:

Congratulations to all club members on the turn up at Maryborough on Sunday – really good support of the race by club members.

Couple of 1st place finishes in the short course with Alexander Evans winning the male division, and Carol Sing the women’s. Great Effort

And in the long course Damo Hughes was third for the males, and Shai O’Brien third overall in the womens. The long course winner was Jamie Huggett who is a supporter of the Bendigo Club – coming over (and winning) at the September race each year. Awesome effort by Tom Barkmeyer and Sharon Baker who fiished first in their respective divisions. (apologies if I missed someone)

CLUB MEMBERS ACHIEVE GREAT RESULTS:

Some Shepparton and Melbourne results
Paul Buncle (79:16) won his age group for the third event in the regional race series event held in Shepp on Sunday – what a great series for Paul after returning to tri’s this year after a long (10 year?) injury lay off. Awesome effort Paul.

Other age group winnners in Shepp (sprint distance 750m, 20kms, 5kms) were Nathan Meade (67.27) and Russ Tremayne (75:27), with Alexander Evans (74:15) finishing in second place.

And in Melbourne Fraser Walsh continued on his winning streak with a win in his age group in a sprint distance event in 59:48.

Go Bendigo Triathlon Club members!

25 YEAR CELEBRATIONS:

Wow, what a weekend it was!
Over 80 people attended the Club’s 25th Year celebration night on Saturday 15th February. During the night it was announced that Kevin Walsh would become the 16th Life Member of the club, and two of the life members David Meade and Gavin Fiedler were inducted as the first ‘Legends’ of the club.
Congratulations to Kevin, Dave and Gavin.
The club’s 16 life members all attended the night and are seen in the included photo –
back row (L to R) Troy Cartner, David Meade, Geoff Webb, Arthur Erwin, Kevin Walsh, Judy McLaren, Craig Sloan, Rick Jackell, Peter Hunt and Peter Ladd
front row Mark Nicholson, Trevor Lacey, Alison Cartner, Marg Erwin, Shirley Morgan and Gavin Fiedler

Race day saw the largest race in the club’s history with 80 long course, nearly 60 short course and 75 mini participants.
Awesome day with our great sponsors providing a huge amount of prizes given out during the event.

5 of the particpants on Sunday were extra special as they had also competed in the club’s very first race 25 years ago – Geoff Webb, Ross Evans, Peter Cox, Gavin Fiedler and Grant Pearce.
